There came the “Free Viet Labor Federation – FVLF” aiming to
“protect laborers”. A number of overseas Vietnamese laborers, international
organizations and non-governmental organizations, lacking in information on Vietnam ’s labor
situation and policies, have been misled by the FVLF (formerly known as the
Committee for the Protection of Vietnamese Laborers – hereinafter referred to
as the Committee) and thereby assisted its activities.
With a view to international integration and economic
development, Vietnam
has implemented a variety of policies creating favorable conditions for
laborers to work overseas. This is viewed as a good strategy of Vietnam as it
helps cope with the demand for work and augment the foreign currency inflow.
Tran Ngoc Thanh’s Committee, however, has taken advantage of these rational
policies so as to fulfil his political dream and making dirty money. Following
the example of the Polish Solidarity Union, Thanh and his fellows called on the
international community to pay attention to “the unfairness facing Vietnamese
workers” as they conspired to turn such action into a nationwide protesting
movement in order to stage a “color revolution” overthrowing the current regime
of Vietnam .
Partly due to its inexperience in “union affair”, incapability
and discord over “unequal shares”, the Committee was gradually falling into
oblivion in the face of Thanh’s effort. On account of this, they came to the
realization that “independent” operation was impossible, hence the combination
of the Committee, the “Vietnam Independent Trade Union”, the “United
Worker-Farmer Association of Vietnam” and the “Viet Labor Movement” into the
FVLF. FVLF is merely another label of the Committee as their long-term
conspiracy remains unchanged. There is still the propaganda against the State
of Vietnam disguised as “humanitarian and charity activities”, the calling for
the interference of other governments and non-governmental organizations in Vietnam ’s
affairs concerning labor and trade union, and sophisticated frauds targeting
Vietnamese laborers.
